What inspired you to write this story?

Kristin was inspired to write this story while she was teaching Jr. Kindergarten. She had moments where she would get frustrated with herself and her students. As she began to realize the impact the words she was choosing to use affected how she felt, she began teaching her students as well. They took situations that felt overwhelming and turned them around into empowering moments by taking breaths and changing their words. As a teacher, she wanted a book she could read to her class to help reinforce what they were learning, so she decided to write a book.

What inspired you to Illustrate this story?

Rachel met Kristin while she was learning about the power of language. A mom herself, she understands the importance of how she uses her words and how this influences and affects her daughter’s language as well. She wanted to help create change by using her gifts to create beautiful images that portrayed Olive’s emotions and expressions throughout the book. She is grateful she can use her abilities to design and beautify content that makes a difference.

 Is this book a part of a series?

This book is the first in a series about the power of our words. Kristin and Rachel are already working on the second book in the series with ideas lined up for the third as well. Abracadabra I Know What to Do! is the first book that begins to introduce the readers to the Language Ninjas. By the end of the third book in the Abracadabra Series, kids will have been fully introduced to the Language Ninjas.
